Police conduct impaired driver patrols in honor of TN officer killed by drunk driver

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (WSMV) – Police in Brentwood and Franklin conducted increased patrols Friday night looking for drunk drivers in an effort to keep the community safe.

The extra patrols honored fallen officer Destin Legieza, a five-year veteran of the Brentwood Police Department who was killed by a drunk driver on his way back to the station at the end of his shift. He was hit by a female driver on June 18, 2020, after she crossed the yellow line and hit Legieza head-on.

Franklin Police, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Department and the Tennessee Highway Patrol joined Brentwood in the impaired driving patrol blitz…
