NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Smyrna teenager faces multiple charges after an incident involving a Metro police officer that led to shots being fired.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, Saturday night, Canine Unit Officer Mario Diaz and his partner, K-9 Kyro, were working the Street Racer Initiative in MNPD’s South Precinct. A grey Nissan Maxima reportedly evaded an attempted traffic stop, and was later seen in the area of Brick Church Pike.

Diaz located the Maxima near Autumn Ridge Drive, where three people were then seen running away from the car. Two occupants ran into the woods nearby, while the third person—identified as a 15-year-old Smyrna boy—got back into the car and began driving towards Diaz and K-9 Kyro, according to Metro Police.
MNPD said the officer gave the driver commands to stop, but ended up firing at the vehicle “in fear for his and Canine Kyro’s safety.” The Maxima then stopped, and the 15-year-old was safely removed from the car. No injuries were reported…
