Cheatham County Mayor Kerry McCarver presented the county’s proposed 2026-2027 fiscal year budget to the County Commission at their June 15 budget workshop at the Cheatham County Courthouse in Ashland City.
McCarver said the proposed budget includes a property tax increase of 5.67 cents, from $1.753 to approximately $1.8097 per $100 of assessed value.
The initial budget proposal from the budget committee called for a $2.6 million increase in county spending, requiring a 23.44 cent property tax increase, which stemmed in part from the addition of 25 new county personnel positions.
