Middle Tennessee’s drought is not over yet, even with all this July rain

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Middle Tennessee is working its way out of a severe drought that gripped the region this spring.

Nashville International Airport recorded only 36.72 inches of rain from July 2025 to June 2026. That marks the driest 12-month stretch the city has seen since 1987-1988.

Every month since July 2025 fell below average for precipitation except October 2025, which ended up with 0.3 inches above average rainfall. The prolonged dry spell pushed much of Mid-State into severe drought conditions back in the spring…
