SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A traffic stop for a faulty license plate light in Sumner County led to the arrest of a Nashville man with pre-packaged drugs, more than 2 pounds of psychedelics, five weapons, and close to 2,000 rounds of ammo.
Members of the 18th Judicial District Drug Task Force stopped the driver, 24-year-old Richard Johnson Jr., the night of July 6 near Millersville. According to the arrest affidavit, the suspect had a burned out light on his rear license plate.
During the stop, a K-9 walking around the Nashville man’s vehicle reacted to the odor of drugs. A search turned up a 9mm under the driver’s seat, as well as 20 individual bags of marijuana — totaling half a pound — in the vehicle. Authorities also seized three sets of digital scales and 1.5 ounces of psilocybin mushrooms.
