NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Former Metro Councilmember Zach Young is asking city officials to investigate what he alleges are fraudulent tactics by canvassers seeking signatures for a charter amendment that would end auto racing at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.

In a July 24 complaint sent to the Metro Charter Revision Commission, Davidson County Election Commission and Metro Law Director’s Office, Young asked for an immediate investigation and said the petition should be declared invalid if the allegations are substantiated.

The petition would change the Metro Charter by removing auto racing as a required Fairgrounds activity, replacing it with affordable and/or workforce housing, and directing the Fair Board to discontinue racing at the site.
