Nashville woman accused of collecting SNAP benefits for missing daughter

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A Nashville woman is accused of fraudulently obtaining more than $5,500 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, benefits by continuing to claim her missing daughter as a member of her household, according to court records.

Shannon Jean Anderson, 51, was booked into the Davidson County Downtown Detention Center on Aug. 4 on five felony counts of food stamp fraud, according to Davidson County booking records. Booking records show bond was set at $1,500 on each of the food stamp fraud charges.

According to an arrest affidavit, the Tennessee Department of Human Services notified the Metro Nashville Police Department that Anderson had been improperly receiving SNAP benefits on behalf of her daughter, Jodie Brooke Anderson…
