Norma Rilling knew almost everyone who came into the Hot Stop Market in the small town of Kingston Springs, Tennessee. There, she sold sandwiches, bags of potato chips and cold drinks, mostly to the familiar faces she knew from around town.
But on a spring day in 1985, according to a declaration signed by Rilling and submitted to court in 2014, two men came to the market she had never seen before, and they left an impression.
