NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A former Nashville bus driver has filed a lawsuit against WeGo Public Transit and other city agencies, alleging she was retaliated against for raising safety concerns.
The lawsuit, filed in the Middle District of Tennessee, alleges Candice McEwen was wrongfully investigated, placed on administrative leave, and subjected to reduced wages and hours after filing an incident report in violation of federal whistleblower protections.
McEwen said her initial report detailed an April 25, 2025, safety incident involving juvenile and adult passengers where a safety button meant to kick off emergency communication procedures failed. The complaint alleges that when McEwen raised the safety issues to authorities, she faced retaliation and accusations from transit officials and human resources personnel.
