A Nashville Company Built 320 Corner Stores. Shell Just Bought the Whole Thing.

If you have filled a tank, bought a fountain drink, or grabbed a coffee anywhere in Middle Tennessee in the last twenty years, there is a very good chance you did it inside a business headquartered here. That is about to change hands.

Shell is acquiring Nashville-based Tri Star Energy outright. The deal covers 320 fuel and convenience retail sites across Tennessee and surrounding states, plus supply agreements with another 552 dealer-owned locations. When it closes, it will more than double the number of convenience retail sites Shell owns and operates in the United States.

The names on the buildings are the ones locals actually know: Twice Daily, Sudden Service, and White Bison Coffee…
