‘I Was Ready’: Jamarious Brown Makes the Most of His Touchdown Moment in Ole Miss’ Win Over Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Jamarious Brown says he had not really been lobbying for a chance to catch a touchdown. But the Ole Miss defensive lineman simply knew that if the opportunity came, he needed to be ready. Saturday against Vanderbilt, it did — and the 305-pound Brown delivered, hauling in a two-yard touchdown pass from Trinidad Chambliss during the Rebels’ 52-17 victory.

The catch gave Brown a moment to celebrate with fellow defensive lineman Will Echoles, added an unexpected name to the scoring summary and brought back a little of the offensive versatility he showed in high school. Afterward, Brown’s explanation was as straightforward as his approach to the assignment.

“I haven’t really been asking for them to run it, but they just told me whenever my time comes, just be ready. And I was ready.”
