Tennessee announces record decibel level at Neyland Stadium in win over Alabama

Tennessee announced a record decibel level at Neyland Stadium during their 26-10 win over Alabama over the weekend. The crowd was absolutely on fire and the meter showed a level of 130.3 during the game.

There have been 105 unique events over 120 DB, per the release from the team. The previous highest scientifically verified DBA event in college football was in 2007 when Penn State played Ohio State, but it was only sustained for two seconds.

As far as Tennessee is concerned, the record-setting level occurred in the third quarter at the 3:56 mark. It followed a second down sack of Alabama QB Keelon Russell with the Vols leading 19-10.

“Just want to start by saying thanks to our fans,” head coach Josh Heupel said postgame. “I knew it would be, but elite atmosphere. Part of the game for four quarters. Phenomenal atmosphere. Great win. Defense, suffocating. Elite performance. Really proud of those guys. They handled adversity, sudden change extremely well. Great performance by them. And as a team, found a way to win against a good football team. Really proud of our guys. So, enjoy this one tonight and then start getting better tomorrow.”…
