The Tennessee Vols have been turning some heads in recent weeks, and all eyes have been on the guy wearing #3. With 32 or more points in three of his last four games, he became the first SEC player since former Vol Chris Lofton in December 2006 to pull off the feat.
Knecht’s red-hot play has carried the Vols to a four-game winning streak over four rivals in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Vanderbilt. The Vols sit at 5-1 in the SEC, just a half game back of the Crimson Tide. With Knecht leading the way, Tennessee fans are starting to feel very good about where this season could go.
But what do those outside of Knoxville think of the Vols, particularly those that make a living handicapping such things? Pretty highly, as it turns out.
Per BetMGM , the Vols are up to +1400 as of Monday to win the national championship. That gives them tied for the fifth-best odds to win the title, even with Kentucky, North Carolina, and Auburn. The Vols’ wins over Florida, Alabama, and Vanderbilt brought up their odds from +1600 from last week. Tennessee’s opening odds were +3300 at the start of the season, second highest among all teams with currently better than +3000 odds.
