ANTIOCH, Tenn. (WKRN) — Construction is expected to finally begin on Antioch’s new police precinct next month, according to an Antioch council member.
This week, the city is asking the Metropolitan Board of Zoning Appeals for a special exception so they can start building.

“This is the old K-mart building and this is where the precinct will be,” said David Benton, District 28 councilmember.
The 22,000-square-foot area remains empty, surrounded by a metal fence. Benton blames the construction delay on a tweak that was made to the design. “It cost the project to go back to the drawing board, literally and because of that we lost several months and now we are back on track, and we want to stay that way.”
For years, city leaders have been pushing to get their own precinct in the fast-growing area of Antioch.
“We have the south precinct which is not too far away, but they are having to cover such a huge area and they are spread thin,” Benton said.
