NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Authorities are investigating after two police cruisers were broken into over the weekend, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD).
The incident took place in the early morning hours of Sunday, Jan. 28. Both police vehicles were parked outside of residences, one on Illinois Avenue and the other on Watts Circle, authorities said.

According to MNPD, no firearms were taken from the cruisers. However, the theives did get away with equipment including fingerprint kits, handcuffs and body armor.
Investigators said the equipment that was stolen from the police cruiser on Watts Circle was recovered the same day on Sunday, Jan. 28 from an abandoned Hyundai Sonata.
The Hyundai, which was reported stolen, had been left running on Hinkle Drive, according to MNPD. Authorities said the rear window of the vehicle was busted out and the steering column had been peeled.
