Deadly teen shootout at Bellevue shopping center frightens employees, customers

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Wednesday night shootout at a popular Bellevue shopping center left one teen dead and another injured, raising concerns among community members.

The Metro Nashville Police Department said 18-year-old Gavin R. Dauzart and a 17-year-old boy shot each other at the shopping center in the 7000 block of Highway 70 South on Wednesday, Jan. 31.

“I really hate hearing that…That’s really frightening,” Patsy Ramey, who frequents the shopping center, told News 2.

An employee at Heads Up Salon said she heard about half a dozen shots fired as she was closing up shop Wednesday night. She recalled looking out to see someone lying in the parking lot and another person running off as she called 911.

Officials said officers and paramedics were dispatched to the parking lot just after 8:15 p.m. and discovered Dauzart lying in the middle of the parking lot with a pistol next to him. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), where he later died.
