Police looking for man accused to trying to rape woman in downtown Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nashville detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who allegedly tried to rape a woman while she was walking home last Saturday morning.

The 30-year-old woman was walking near the 400 block of 11th Avenue North around 1:45 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3 when the Metro Nashville Police Department said a man grabbed her from behind and knocked her to the ground.

The man allegedly tried to remove her clothing, but she screamed and fought back. When a witness began yelling from a parking garage across the street, officials said the suspect walked off.

The incident was reported only about one day before authorities said another man tried to rape a woman while she was running on the Cumberland River Greenway .

The suspect in Saturday’s incident is described as a white man with short blonde hair. He was reportedly wearing a flannel shirt and blue jeans at the time of the incident.
