Lawmakers seek to restrict AI-generated content

Tennessee lawmakers are joining a host of states that are looking to place restrictions on artificial intelligence.

A handful of bills have been proposed would target AI content on multiple different fronts: the “unlawful exposure” definition, the qualifications of sexual exploitation of a minor, and even adding disclaimers to political advertising using AI.

“As one of the youngest members of the General Assembly, I know that this technology is going to be defining for our generation,” Rep. Justin Jones said, adding that his bills have seen strong bipartisan support. “There needs to be some type of common sense, safety precautions to protect the public when it comes to people’s rights and privacy, because their right to consent to their likeness and their voice in AI is important.
