More snow is on the way for Nashville. At least an inch of it, according to the National Weather Service.
On Monday, the weather service issued a winter weather advisory for parts of the Middle Tennessee area. The advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. until 2 a.m. Tuesday.
The area is expected to receive scattered showers and a few thunderstorms Monday, with a few strong storms south and east of Nashville in the afternoon. The threat for strong storms will remain south of I-40 and east of I-65. The rain is expected to mix with and change to snow before moving out.
Light snow accumulations are possible (from a dusting up to 1 inch) but the weather service is uncertain about exact snow amounts. Any snow will fall mainly along and north of I-40 plus on the Cumberland Plateau, they said. If cold air moves in quickly, snow totals could increase above two inches for some spots north of I-40.
Warmer temperatures however can cause much of the falling snow to melt resulting in little to no accumulation, they said. Regardless, the weather service recommends slower speeds and driving with caution.
