Lightning delayed 4th of July celebrations across Middle Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nashville’s Let Freedom Sing event is back on after a lightning delay.

Visit Nashville posted to X at 7:49 p.m. that the event is back on schedule and that Chris Young would be performing at 8:10 p.m.

Fourth of July celebrations were delayed in multiple locations across Middle Tennessee due to weather.

Just before 7 p.m., the official Twitter account for Nashville, Tennessee posted that the show was on pause due to lightning in the area.

That delay was lifted just after 7:40 p.m., per a Mt. Juliet Police tweet .

Residents in the Mt. Juliet area had initially received an alert just after 7 p.m. with the following message:

MJAlert: Due to lightning in close proximity to the outdoor 4th of July Celebration at Circle P Ranch, all attendees have been told to seek shelter.
