Finis Stribling, director of small farm programs at TSU, said 90% of farms in the Volunteer state are small, and the expo will highlight how the industry is attractive.

“Even though you think of the commercial chicken industry, here at Tennessee State you can see, well okay, I can still have a backyard flock and be profitable,” said Stribling.

The annual farmer recognition luncheon and awards ceremony will take place at 11:15 a.m and 2024 small farmer of the year will be crowned.
