A large section of Interstate 24 westbound will be closed along the downtown Nashville loop this weekend for planned maintenance.
The interstate makes up the east loop around downtown, which travels across the Cumberland River and into East Nashville. The closure began at 8 p.m. Friday and will lift at 5 a.m. Monday, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Traffic will be diverted to the west loop, which includes Interstates 40 and 65.
The full closure runs from the I-24 and I-40 split, south of downtown, to the I-24 and I-65 split, north of downtown.
Travelers who plan to head downtown or into East Nashville this weekend should allow for extra time or seek routes that avoid the closure.
