There is currently a large police presence in East Nashville near N. 7th Street, where police say an individual is holed up in one of the houses after stealing a car and shooting at police in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Between 2:00 and 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning, officers responded to a stolen vehicle call — they found the suspect, who then fired shots at officers and fled the scene.
They lost contact with the individual until an anonymous caller from inside a house on North 7th Street said the suspect was inside a house on the street.
After speaking with residents of the house who called anonymously, police were able to confirm the person was inside one of the houses on North 7th Street.
Police are still outside the scene.
Several streets are blocked off at the moment. As this is a breaking news situation, we are still waiting for more information regarding the individual’s identity and if anyone was injured. We will update you as soon as we know more.
