Percy Priest Lake neighbors fight rezoning of abandoned car wash

PERCY PRIEST LAKE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An abandoned car wash in the Percy Priest Lake community could soon see some new changes.

The business at 3620 Anderson Road has been the topic of neighborhood debates for several years.

“Look at this, see boxes of food and then look at that, that big bag is somebody coming and dumping over here on purpose,” Dora Gilley, neighbor to the car wash, told News 2 in 2019 .

Five years later, the car wash sits empty and gated.

“It’s either open and then semi-functional, then it’s closed, then it’s open,” explained Michele Vetter, president of Priest Lake Peninsula Neighborhood Network . “Recently, they came along and put this fence up.”

“It’s been closed down since, I think, before we even moved over here,” said Eric Brow, another neighbor to the car wash. “But I think if they would clean it up and make it look nice, I would definitely take my car over here.”

However, according to a spokesperson with Dewey Engineering, the owners of the car wash are ready to rezone the property.
