NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 39-year-old man is accused of driving the wrong way down Interstate 65 or four miles while fleeing from police officers Thursday morning.
Officers were first called to a hit-and-run in the 1100 block of Broadway around 4:30 a.m.
South Nashville arson suspect facing federal charges
The crash victim followed the suspect and gave officers the vehicle’s license plate number. The suspect, identified as Maurice Blackman, then reportedly drove onto the wrong side of the road onto Interstate 65.
According to court documents, Blackman drove south in the northbound lanes for four miles until he crashed into another vehicle head-on at the Wedgewood Avenue exit. The other driver was injured but their condition was not released.

Blackman became combative as officers tried to restrain him and check for injuries, according to court documents. Officers said he smelled of alcohol and appeared to be hallucinating on drugs.
Blackman was booked into the Metro jail and charged with reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident, resisting arrest and driving under the influence. His bond was set at $4,500.
