Nashville billionaire Bill Freeman’s death ‘investigated as suicide’ as community mourns loss of real estate mogul and Democratic donor

Authorities have announced that they are currently investigating the death of Nashville real estate mogul and big-time Democratic donor Bill Freeman as a possible suicide . The billionaire was 73 at the time of his death, according to Fox affiliate WZTV . It was reported by the outlet that Freeman’s son, Bob who serves in the state legislature, confirmed his father’s death.

“Tonight, we lost Bill Freeman,” Mayor Freddie O’Connell wrote Sunday night on X. “Bill was many things — real estate visionary, mayoral candidate, pilot, media magnate, staunch Democrat — and friend. Our city, state, and nation are better for his tenacity and commitment. We will miss him dearly, and my heart is with his family.”

According to a statement issued by a Metro police spokesperson, Freeman was found after police were summoned to the house because of a shooting that had taken place. “The Police Department responded to a 911 call concerning a shooting at 7:46 p.m. Sunday,” spokesperson Don Aaron said per The Tennessean . “Mr. Freeman was found deceased. His death is being investigated as a suicide.”
