NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Wilson County family finally received some justice Tuesday after their son died from a fentanyl overdose in West Nashville in 2022.
“When this happens, you’re just like, you can’t believe it happened to you, that it was my son that lost his life to this,” Nikki Leonard, Evan Leonard’s mother, told News 2 in April .
The Metro Nashville Police Department said 21-year-old Evan was found dead by his roommate at their apartment on July 15, 2022. According to authorities, the roommate claimed Evan said he took an ecstasy pill that made him feel “weird” the night before, but Evan’s parents said he thought he was taking cocaine. It was actually a street drug laced with fentanyl.
