Teens suspected in multiple vehicle crimes arrested in Madison following chase

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) has taken multiple teens into custody Thursday following a chase.

In a press release, the MNPD said detectives with the Violent Crimes division found a stolen Toyota Sequoia traveling in East Nashville overnight. Officers had reportedly tried to stop the SUV on Tuesday around 5 a.m. after seeing the it traveling at a high rate of speed on Gallatin Pike, but the vehicle ran multiple stop signs and was traveling too quickly to capture.

However, just after midnight Thursday, detectives found the SUV, but it fled again at a high rate of speed. The MNPD said its helicopter followed the SUV from above and relayed information to ground units, which were eventually able to successfully deploy spike strips.

The 14-year-old driver traveled into Madison and stopped on Delaware Avenue before fleeing on foot along with other passengers in the vehicle, officials said. Eventually, the driver was taken into custody along Dueling Avenue by a K9 officer and his partner. Arresting officers reportedly found that the teen tossed a handgun and cell phone prior to arrest.
