Nashville police arrested a man Friday in connection with the overdose death of another in January 2024. A monthslong investigation, led by the Specialized Investigations Division’s Neighborhood Safety Section detectives, resulted in a second-degree murder indictment in connection with the overdose death of Nathan McEwen, 38, Nashville police announced in a release. Detectives identified Bobby Joe Love Jr., 36, as the person who sold drugs to McEwen prior to his death. McEwen was found deceased by a family member inside a Pennington Avenue apartment in East Nashville on Jan. 2, 2024. Police say he had drugs inside his wallet. The Medical Examiner’s Office determined he died from fentanyl and cocaine intoxication. Love was taken into custody by detectives Friday outside his workplace on 19th Avenue S, and has since been charged with resisting police and evading arrest after trying to run from detectives.
