Goodlettsville, Tenn. – PopShelf, the Dollar General concept focused on discretionary categories including seasonal and home decor, will pare down its footprint.
As part of its store optimization review, DG plans to close 45 Popshelf stores and convert another six to the Dollar General format during the first quarter. The closures were noted as the retailer reported its Q4 results this morning. The company currently operates 231 Popshelf units.
The news wasn’t completely unexpected. Last November, DG revealed that it had already begun converting some PopShelf locations to the dollar store format during the third quarter. The company also said at the time that it did not plan to open any new PopShelf stores in 2025 in light of the soft discretionary sales environment…
