UPDATE: Smyrna Woman Outsmarts Fake Jury Duty Call—Scammer Must Be So Disappointed

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN – Well, it seems like some people will stop at nothing to impersonate a Rutherford County Sheriff’s deputy. A Smyrna woman recently received an unsolicited call from someone claiming to be enforcing jury duty violations. The caller, apparently unaware that the woman had spent the last 40 years in the legal field, told her she had failed to respond to a jury duty notice. (Spoiler alert: She hadn’t.)

In an attempt to add some legitimacy to his call, the scammer informed her he was about to mark her down as a “non-responder,” because, apparently, he thought that would strike fear into someone with four decades of experience in law. He then insisted on confirming her address and continued pushing the narrative about a certified letter she supposedly ignored.

Not falling for it, the woman—undoubtedly with decades of wisdom and a solid understanding of how jury duty works—calmly ended the conversation. She hung up. Just like that. Apparently, scammers didn’t get the memo: this wasn’t her first rodeo…
