NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Nashville Office of Emergency Management reports its outdoor tornado warning siren system faced issues during Wednesday’s overnight severe weather event.
OEM reports multiple siren sites activated as Tornado Warnings were issued for the Nashville/Davidson County areas. The continued warnings and sounding of the sirens drained their batteries.
“Once the batteries drained the sirens stopped sounding,” OEM explained. “In areas where there were power outages the sirens did not start to recharge until electricity was restored. The power has been restored to those sites.”…
