KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee leaders across the region are reacting to the death of former Catholic Church head, Pope Francis.

Francis died Monday morning, nearly a month after being released from the hospital, where he was treated for a respiratory illness that became double pneumonia. He served as the pope for 12 years after being named to the head of the papacy on March 13, 2013.

Francis made his last public appearance on Easter Sunday, one day before his death, to bless thousands of people in St. Peter’s Square. Multiple Tennessee leaders have taken to social media to express their grief and offer support to the Catholic community…
