Owner of iconic East Nashville bar dies at 48

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The owner of an iconic East Nashville bar and a beloved member of the Nashville music scene died of stomach cancer Monday at the age of 48.

Travis Collinsworth co-owned and operated “The 5 Spot” for nearly 20 years, giving five bands every night a chance to play on his stage.

“Travis always said it’s a place for people to have their very first show and a place to have their homecoming show and their secret show if they make it big or their final show,” 5 Spot co-owner Todd Sherwood told WSMV. “He was part of the musical community, so he wanted this to be a place for everybody just like him.”…
