NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A man wanted for a shooting in April was arrested this week, and detectives were able to connect him to an arson and shooting in Madison last December.
According to arrest affidavits from the Metro Nashville Police Department, 44-year-old Walter David Rivera Morel was identified as the prime suspect in a shooting at a home in the 4000 block of Murfreesboro Pike on April 21. A man was beaten with a 2×4 piece of wood and then shot when he attempted to run away, one affidavit states.
The victim managed to get into his truck and drive away after getting shot. He flagged down a passerby down the road, who called 911 for him, according to the affidavit. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where officers later spoke with him about what happened. He told them that Morel was likely still at the residence, so officers returned to the address with MNPD’s SWAT unit, but Morel was no longer there, the affidavit states…
