NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — For more than 80 years, the Iroquois Steeplechase has been one of Nashville’s most iconic sporting traditions.
This year, there’s a total of seven races for an overall purse of $575,000, which is the largest purse on the National Steeplechase Association’s spring circuit. However, the iconic Nashville event brought some extra drama on Saturday, May 10.

When approaching the far turn, one of the jockeys fell off of his horse. As contenders got to the hurdle, multiple horses and jockeys fell. Fortunately, the race announcer told the crowd all jockeys and horses involved in the collision are going to be okay.
In the final stretch of the three-mile race, Aaban and jockey Bernie Dalton took home the victory and $250,000 in prize money…
