‘First to arrive, last to leave:’ Man detained by ICE in Nashville is a beloved church member, family says

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Laura Campos says her Dad’s cousin, Edgardo David Campos, was known by his church community as the first to arrive and the last to leave.

“He’s always so willing to help,” Laura said. “You don’t even have to offer him anything, just, ‘I’m there. Tell me what day, what time, I’m there.’ He’s a good, outstanding citizen, and he lives his life through the church. He lives through his faith in and outside of the church.”

She says Edgardo, known as David by his friends and family, was on his way home from a vigil at his church early Saturday morning when he was stopped by the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
