Shawn Terry Demont Newby, 44, of Nashville, was sentenced yesterday to five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, announced Acting United States Attorney Robert E. McGuire for the Middle District of Tennessee.
The sentencing stems from an incident on the evening of January 6, 2024, when Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) officers responded to a shooting at a WeGo bus station located at 3458 Dickerson Pike in Nashville. Investigation revealed that Newby discharged a firearm following a verbal altercation near the bus stop.
