Second teen suspect charged in connection with deadly 2024 shooting at William A. Pitts Park

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A suspect was arrested in North Carolina in connection with what the Metro Nashville Police Department called a “targeted” shooting at an Antioch park last year.

The shooting had been reported shortly after 5:15 p.m. on Dec. 1, 2024, according to the MNPD, but an investigation revealed that the shooting had actually occurred at about 9:45 p.m. the night before. Days later, the victim in the “targeted fatal shooting” was identified as 23-year-old Mohamed Keita of Riverdale, Georgia.

On Friday, the MNPD posted an update to social media that an 18-year-old had been arrested in Hampstead, North Carolina in connection with the deadly shooting, adding that robbery was the apparent motive.

News 2’s ABC affiliate WWAY reported that deputies with the Pender County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic incident in the 100 block of Acadian Loop in Hampstead around 1 p.m. Friday.
