GALLATIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Gallatin Police Department has opened a new firing range to train their officers.
The facility has been in the works for the past two years. On Friday, city leaders along with command staff gathered to cut the ribbon on the new range. Previously, officers had to utilize firing range facilities for Portland and Sumner County departments.
Now that the GPD has its own firing range, Gallatin officials said the department could host classes and training divisions without working around other agencies schedules.

“We want to be able to equip our officers so they can be the best officers that they can be,” Public Information Officer for the GPD, Jessica Jackson, said. “Whether it be out there on the firing range, whether it’s in the classroom — doing training in the classroom — or a variety of both, we want to equip our officers to do the very best they can and having that facility allows us to do that.”…
