Tariffs hitting Midstate fireworks stores, some decide not to pass extra cost onto customers

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – If you’re planning on hitting a fireworks store this week for July 4, depending on the store, prices may be a bit higher than you’d expect.

According to the American Pyrotechnic Association, the tariffs on China, which produce 99% of U.S. consumer fireworks and 90% of U.S. commercial fireworks displays, is hitting locally-owned shops hard across the country.

In the Midstate, however, some shops we spoke with decided against passing the extra cost of their inventory onto their customers…
