Widow of Easter mass shooting victim to receive thousands after initially denied by state

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A woman whose husband was killed while trying to stop a mass shooting on an Easter Sunday in Nashville, has been approved for tens of thousands of dollars in victim compensation—after initially being denied by the state.

Lakendra Beachem lost her husband, Allen Beachem, when a gunman opened fire on patrons inside a Salemtown restaurant, killing him and striking seven others with bullets. Allen, a veteran and volunteer firefighter, was fatally shot while attempting to confront the shooter, according to police.

“He would lift you up even if you didn’t know you needed it,” Lakendra told FOX 17. “He was always laughing, always trying to make sure everybody was okay.”…
