Advocates question role of off-duty troopers in Downtown Nashville security effort

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — As Nashville prepares for a potential expansion of its Downtown Business Improvement District (BID), some Metro Council members and homeless advocacy groups are raising concerns about how security is being enforced — and who is doing the enforcing.

A spokesperson with the Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed to FOX 17 News that some off-duty state troopers are working downtown under secondary employment approval through a private security company.
