Nashville Police Name Christian Ibe as Suspect in Jefferson Street Fatal Shooting, Seek Public Assistance

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) has pinpointed Christian Ibe as the prime suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred at a Jefferson Street market in Nashville. Authorities are actively searching for Ibe, accused of the homicide of 33-year-old Marcus Caruthers, who sustained a fatal gunshot wound while reportedly attempting to de-escalate a dispute between Ibe and a woman at King’s Market on Wednesday afternoon, as reported by WSMV.

According to WKRN, the conflict that led to the violence erupted near the 1800 block of Jefferson Street just before half past noon. The situation escalated when Ibe allegedly brandished a firearm and shot Caruthers in the torso, who later succumbed to his injuries despite being rushed to Vanderbilt Hospital. In the aftermath of the shooting, Ibe discarded a court-mandated ankle monitor he was wearing due to a prior domestic violence incident from 2024; the device would later be discovered on 11th Avenue North.
