2 men indicted in connection with deadly May 2024 shooting near downtown Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department announced that two men were indicted in connection with a deadly shooting in May 2024.

At around 1 a.m. on May 17, 2024, the body of 29-year-old Darrius Bergeron was found in a field near the intersection of Lewis and Hart Streets. At the time, the MNPD said a passerby saw Bergeron approach the passenger side of a white SUV before shots were fired.

Two SUVs drove away toward Triamble Street. Bergeron was pronounced dead at the scene and the MNPD had been investigating the case ever since.

On Monday, police announced that 38-year-old Andray Stevens and 33-year-old Antonio Witherspoon were indicted on counts of first-degree murder and especially aggravated robbery.
