July 7, 2025 – A second teenager has been charged with criminal homicide in connection with the June 30 fatal shooting that claimed the lives of Janiyah Batey, 19, and Demario Anderson, 16, in the parking lot of Buffalo Trail Apartments on Dickerson Pike.
Adarian Graham, 16, was booked into juvenile detention on July 7 and is being held pending a hearing. His co-defendant, Martavious Luster, 16, was arrested on June 30 and is also charged with criminal homicide.
According to Metro police, the investigation shows that Graham, Luster, Anderson, and a fourth unidentified teen attempted to rob Batey during a planned meeting in the apartment complex parking lot. A confrontation quickly escalated into gunfire. Evidence and witness statements indicate that Batey fired a shot that struck Anderson, who was found dead at the scene wearing a ski mask. In the exchange of gunfire, Batey was critically wounded. She managed to drive away but crashed nearby at a Shell gas station, where officers found her inside a wrecked Chevrolet Malibu with a .45 caliber gun on the floorboard.
