Semis carrying oversized loads forced to turn around on Nashville interstate

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Two semis transporting very large cargo avoided striking a low bridge while driving through Nashville on Tuesday morning.

The trucks were traveling west on I-40 just after 9 a.m. when they passed under the Spence Lane overpass but came to a stop before crossing under the Arlington Avenue bridge.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation responded to the interstate and closed I-24 East, allowing each semi to slowly turn around and use I-24 East to avoid the bridge.
