NTSB issues preliminary report on deadly Sumner County plane crash

SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Just over two weeks after a plane crashed in Sumner County, killing the pilot, officials provided new details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board’s preliminary report, an Ercoupe 415-C — which was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 positioning flight — crashed near Gallatin around 1 p.m. on July 2, leaving the plane significantly damaged.

EMS personnel told News 2 that the call about the crash came in from the area of Collier Lane and Highway 25, and first responders went to the Liberty Lane area.
