NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A company has to pay a fine and serve a probation term after pleading guilty to violating the federal Clean Water Act Tuesday.

The U.S. Department of Justice, citing court documents, alleged that Onsite Environmental treated liquid, non-hazardous material and dumped that into the Nashville sewer system. The company, which operated a facility in Nashville, had obtained a pretreatment permit from Metro under an approved program.
However, between December 2022 and January 2023, employees “knowingly bypassed treatment processes” and released untreated or partially-treated waste into the sewer.
