NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Despite growing calls from victims’ advocates and some neighborhoods moving ahead with their own installations, there’s still no movement on a citywide license plate reader (LPR) program in Nashville.
Mayor Freddie O’Connell, during his Friday roundtable, said the issue has been at a standstill since earlier this year, when a Metro Council resolution in support of LPRs failed to make it out of committee.
“You saw what we saw a few months ago where Metro Council couldn’t even get out of committee a resolution of support for the concept,” O’Connell said. “We want to make sure we’re not creating new classes of victims and so I think it’s still trying to find that balance so we’re continuing to have those conversations and we don’t have decisions or a timeline right now.”…
